Today’s walk was shared with another of the great Hibees in my life. And one my dad encountered at many a game in varying states of joy or despair…
The weather was undecided but we decided just to go for it. Our aim was to follow the paths around the Winton Estate which seemed straightforward enough judging by the map. But either the map was a complete made up load of tosh or we just weren’t paying enough attention. I’m going for the former.
We set off from Pencaitland and around the fields as far as Ormiston at which point the paths seemed to disappear. So we headed West and managed to find our way in to the private grounds of Winton House (I was glad to have had the chance to see it up close) which took us back across to Pencaitland. We decided to add on the ‘figure of eight’ from the map around the river at the end to up the mileage – turned out to be more like a figure of one.
Thought for the day – when you’re walking with one of your best friends it really doesn’t matter if you take the right turns does it.

Aw Debs-loved your ‘thought for the day’. So very true. 💚 x
