Lammer Law & Hopes Reservoir – tier level changes and travel restrictions have brought me closer to home. And my first visit to the Lammermuir Hills. I set out with Bella in tow and didn’t see a single soul until almost the end of the walk.
The first part is continuous ascent across sheep country. The Bass Rock and Berwick Law were bathed in sunshine as they disappeared further into the distance. The destination was Lammer Law, not the highest of the Lammermuirs but has amazing 360 views once you reach it. You could see about 6 different weather systems happening around the Lothians and Fife depending which way you looked.
We headed down across the moorland covered in heather to the constant sound of grouse chatting to each other and flying off as we approached. Felt like I was in a Famous Grouse ad. After exposure to the elements it was a relief to head down into the glen of the Hope Burn and come around the Hopes Reservoir. We just had to leap and cross a few fords to get there.
Then it was back to civilisation and the long road back to the car. A few brussel sprouts (dad’s favourite) littering the road were a reminder of Christmas to come.

Very atmospheric photographs ! Stunning !
