We’ve all been on our own journeys this year. And one of the most difficult has been travelled by my lovely friend Linds. Having found out in June last year that she had breast cancer she’s fought her way through with a gritty determination and a positive attitude all the way – she’s been a total legend. Having just been given the all clear (pre radiotherapy) it was a blessing to be able to get out and share a walk with her for a couple of hours.
We headed for the open air of Threipmuir Reservoir but although the sun was trying to fight through the clouds, the remnants of the winter weather that had brought the snow was still in the air. So it was zips up, hoods up to stop the icy wind getting in. We followed the path to the top of the reservoir and headed back down in the shelter of the trees along the side of Harlaw Reservoir which was still covered in ice.
It feels like spring is trying to punch through the wall but it’s not quite won the battle yet. I think we were both glad to make it back to the warmth of the cars.
The day was finished with a rainbow. A sign to both of us I hope that better things are to come.
