Balgone Estate

The end of the first week of January. This time I stepped outside the front door and headed South. Up and around the back of the Law and down to the Balgone Estate. It’s a beautiful place in the autumn when the Bulrush (otherwise known as Punks in the US) shed their pollen. Today they were bare and set against the iced over lakes. I can understand the desire to step out on to the ice as it was very tempting (it’s definitely some primal instinct) but the brain cells kicked in and we threw a few sticks instead and carried on walking.

There are a couple of huts/seating areas around the lake which made me dream of warm, sunny days but it was too cold to stop for longer than a minute or two. Can’t quite believe that the next season creeping in is spring. How quickly time passes whether we want it to or not…
