Longniddry/Haddington Railway Walk

Took a minute to find the start but once on the path, it was a straight route to Haddington along an old dismantled railway line. There weren’t a lot of views from the path – both sides have been left wild to attract and home wildlife. Nifty little pop up railway signs along the way offer a bit of background. However the lack of light, combined with the overnight drop in temperature had turned the back end of the path into an ice rink. Walking like a penguin wasn’t quite how I’d imagined this challenge!

What I did however manage to see very briefly was a distant sighting through the trees of Garleton Lodge – venue of our 2011 wedding party.

It wasn’t long before I reached the outskirts of Haddington and finished off the walk with a lovely lunch and a glass of wine at the Waterside Bistro. I wish.
