Musselburgh Gap

Another part of the coastal route to fill in. Have so far managed to cover Bo’ness to Silverknowes and Musselburgh to Eyemouth but the Musselburgh to Silverknowes gap has been niggling me. It’s not part of any official route but I know my way around Edinburgh so with my Edinburger friend in tow, we set off.

A fairly industrial walk – with the exception of Portobello promenade, and short sections at The Shore and Newhaven – Edinburgh has never quite managed to develop it’s shore front.

However, a nice surprise was tucked around the back at Victoria Quay. I’ve seen it a million times from the other side (where The Leith Agency offices are located) but it’s so much better viewed from the back. The scale of the buildings and boats reflected in the water was almost otherworldly.

The final stretch linked us back up with Silverknowes. Over 10 miles walked and so much good chat, we barely noticed.
