This route runs down the amazing coastline you can see from a distance when you travel on the train south. Starting in Cockburnspath we headed straight out to the sea. The first view was of Cove Harbour which looks like an illustration of a harbour from a child’s picture book. Then we were off for a slide along the cliff tops trying not to imagine falling head first on to the rocks below.
After a pit stop at Pease Bay we took a detour to Siccar Point (famous for its geology) and saved the life of a sheep who was stuck on its back en route.
The path then took us inland and uphill. And whilst we didn’t want to leave the sea, the views back down the way were worth it. We stopped for lunch to sit on the soaking grass in the middle of a field then managed to get lost making our way around the next field.
Finally back on track, we made our way back up to Dowlaw Farm just before it got dark under the watchful eyes of a few sheep.
