After walking in circles around the station for the first 10 minutes, I finally found my way out of Falkirk and into Callendar park. It was another beautiful morning and I had no idea Callendar park was so picturesque. Not sure what the real swans made of the fake ones though…
One of the day’s highlights was coming out of Falkirk and lifting my head to see the Forth Bridges in the distance. Couldn’t quite believe I’d made it that far. Not so much of a highlight was coming off the Union Canal on to a diversion around Polmont, ending up back on the Union Canal and walking in the wrong direction.
However, was all good in the end as I walked across the Avon Aqueduct – walking across an aqueduct is not something I have experienced in my 48 years and was pretty head bending as a feat of engineering.
Final stop Linlithgow Palace – it’s always had an impressive hat.
