Stage 4 – Kilsyth to Falkirk

Summer has trickled out the door and Autumn is edging in. Was a very damp, grey morning. Couldn’t decide whether the thousands of spiders’ webs covered in dew were beautiful in their artistry or terrifying in their number! After a final view of the Antonine Wall on Croy Hill it was down to join the Clyde and Forth Canal.

The towpath felt endless and being a Sunday it was alive with walkers and cyclists. But there to greet me just outside Falkirk were the kids and Jonathan. The usual malarkey ensued. It’s the first time the kids have joined me and who knows when they’ll deign to again. There was literally a ‘sign’ from grandad at the end – he knew they were there….
